Three TIPS For GROWING TONS OF CITRUS - Even In Cool Climates!
Citrus trees are some of the easiest fruit trees to grow. They require minimal pruning, have few pests, grow well in ground and in containers and flourish in a wide variety of soils and climates. The one thing citrus doesn't tolerate well is extreme cold - but don't let that stop you! Growing tons of citrus is EASY no matter your climate! Here are some citrus tips for success:
If you want to grow citrus, zone 8 or warmer climates are all that's needed to grow citrus in ground. The Owari Satsuma and Brown Select Satsuma mandarin orange trees are cold hardy citrus trees that have been documented to tolerate temperatures as low as 12°F (-11°C) briefly on mature trees, which makes growing citrus in ground possible even in cool climates like mine. The fruit quality is among the finest available, so there is no compromising flavor for cold hardiness. The tree in my video is a 2 year old Owari satsuma and the yields, taste and cold tolerance is outstanding.
If you live in a colder climate than Zone 8, growing citrus trees in containers is very easy. By purchasing dwarf citrus varieties, you can easily grow citrus indoors, or carry them outside during the spring and summer and inside during the winter, or as temperatures allow.
