Opposition Obstructs Parliament Demanding PM Balen Shah’s Question Answer Session

Opposition parties disrupted the House of Representatives demanding a scheduled question-and-answer session with Prime Minister Balen Shah, as required by parliamentary regulations.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal suspended Thursday’s parliamentary meeting for 15 minutes and held discussions with Prime Minister Shah regarding the issue.

After meeting the Prime Minister, the Speaker also consulted opposition chief whips. However, the session, adjourned at 2:45 PM, had still not resumed by 4:15 PM.
An UML lawmaker stated that the party would not allow Parliament to function until a date for the Prime Minister’s Q&A session is fixed. Earlier, UML Chief Whip Ain Bahadur Mahar demanded that a monthly question-answer session be held to prevent arbitrary governance by the Prime Minister.
