Budget, Killer Homebuilt: the Bede BD-5 Story.

Marketed in the early 1970s as a cheap but high-performance homebuilt aircraft, the Bede BD-5 was supposed to be the ultimate toy; the jet version even had a famous cameo role in the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy. However, the design turned out to be far less mature and more difficult to build than was promised, and many of the pilot-builders lost their lives.
