Geshe Sopa Greets the Dalai Lama

Geshe Sopa greets His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
July 2008 in Madison Wisconsin, Deer Park Buddhist Center hosted a visit, and a teaching, of the 14th Dalai Lama. Just before the teachings, Geshe la read a greeting to His Holiness - which he himself had painstakingly written- in English. To the amusement of His Holiness, Geshe la has difficulties with the English. The message is very sweet and heartfelt. The English delivery... does much better with the subtitles. These were added later, after requesting Geshe Sopa's notes to be used as the subtitle track.
It is evident here how much the Dalai Lama cared for Geshe la. He was one of the examination Geshes at the very young Dalai Lama's own Geshe Exam in Tibet.
A dearly beloved and respected teacher, whom His Holiness sent to America in the very earliest days, he will be greatly missed. He truly made this a better world, and us better people and we await his return.
Geshe Sopa was born in 1928 in the Tsang region of Western Tibet.
He passed away a few hours ago, Aug 28, 2014 -Deer Park Wisconsin.
