Lion panting in 40° heat in Kruger Park

This lion is desperately panting to cool down in the searing 40° plus heat near Satara in the Kruger National Park. It was one of three male lions that had caught a sick or dehydrated hippo out of the water and were eating it alive. They would rest awhile in the shade then return to the hippo and eat more of its hindquarters while the hippo groaned in agony.
