Keeping the Gabba operational until the 2032 Olympics could cost $500 million
The Queensland government will spend up to 500 million dollars if it keeps the Gabba operational until the 2032 Olympics.
Premier David Crisafulli is hinting at keeping the gold medal cricket match at the historic ground before it is knocked down after the Games.
The land will be sold to developers while cricket and AFL games will switch to the new stadium proposed at Victoria Park.
The cost to upgrade the venue to modern code compliance could be up to $1 billion, according to last year's review.
