Splitting Beech With a Tire For Firewood

This is how I split firewood using a tire mounted onto a chopping block. It holds the wood in place and saves your back so you don't have to bend over every time you swing the axe.

This method also allows you to hold multiple smaller diameter limbs in place and increases productivity dramatically.

If a round is too big to fit I will quarter it. The tire is held in with 5 or 6 exterior screws and washers, nothing fancy.
