A major tragedy has struck Libya’s military leadership as Lieutenant General Mohammed al-Haddad, the Chief of General Staff for the UN-recognised government, was killed in a plane crash in Turkey. The incident occurred shortly after a private Falcon 50 jet took off from Ankara following high-level defence talks. The aircraft, carrying eight people, including four high-ranking Libyan military officials, reported an electrical failure before losing contact. Wreckage was later discovered in the Haymana district, with witnesses comparing the impact to a bomb blast. Turkish authorities have recovered the black box and voice recorder to determine the exact cause of the malfunction.
