Strut revives an essential lost recording from the archives as acclaimed Sotho folk singer Vusi Mahlasela, singer songwriter Norman Zulu and Swedish jazz / soul collective Jive Connection join forces on ‘Face To Face’. The session was the result of a long-running collaboration between Vusi and Jive Connection with its roots in the anti-apartheid struggle; since the ‘60s, Sweden was one of the most active and organised European countries in the anti-apartheid movement.

This "lost" recording from 2002, discovered in the archives of producer Torsten Larsson, showcases their effortless musical chemistry. Vusi’s lyrics range from parables (‘Prodigal Son’) to an unflinching lament on child abuse (‘Faceless People’) while Jive Connection add hints of reggae, jazz and post-punk alongside traditional township arrangements.
