Present continuous tense ( with examples)
in this video I will explain the present continuous (also called the present progressive or present imperfect) . the present continuous of a verb is formed by the verb to be in the present simple plus the ing form of the verb.
- we use the present continuous at the time of speaking if the action started but isn't finished yet . in other words when we are in the middle of the action.
- sometimes we use the present continuous when the action is not happening at the time of speaking . however the action also started but isn't finished yet and we are still in the middle of doing it.
- we use the present contiguous with today, this week, this year.. ect . in other words , when the action is not happening now but in a period around it like this morning for example.
- we use the use the present continuous when the action is happening in a period around now especially with the following verbs :get - change - become -increase - rise - fall - grow - improve - begin - start
