Final Day on the Pieterpad: Winsum to Pieterburen in the Mist | Wadden Sea Ending

Join me on the final stage of the Pieterpad, the Netherlands’ most famous long-distance hiking trail. For most hikers going south this is the beginning—but for me it’s the end: a quiet, misty 12 km walk from Winsum to Pieterburen.

Dogs aren’t allowed on the Wadden Sea dike because of the seal area, so I didn’t hike the full 10 km epilogue. Instead, I drove part of the route and walked the final kilometer to the “IJzeren Wadloper”, so I could still show the Wadden Sea—while Frodo waited at the gate where dogs are allowed.
