The Movement That Started With 18 Girls - Girl Scouts - March 12, 1912

What was your favorite Girl Scout cookie? 🍪

On this day in 1912, Juliette Gordon Low gathered 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia and founded the Girl Scouts of the USA. At a time when girls had few opportunities beyond the home, she believed they deserved adventure, skills, and confidence.

Girl Scouts learned camping, first aid, hiking, and leadership—things many thought only boys should do. They earned badges, wore uniforms, and built lifelong friendships.

Then came the iconic Girl Scout Cookies in 1917—Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, and more—helping fund their adventures and becoming a beloved American tradition.

Today, over 50 million American women are Girl Scout alumnae. The organization operates in 150 countries worldwide.

What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie? Did you sell them or just buy them? 🍪🌲
