Idk if someone slept with someone’s wife over at Ford and FCA, but they are out for BLOOD between the two of them

Even before we were all locked in our houses with no bars to go to
A problem especially tragic in WI
There seems be a growing interest from the public to go out, adventure, and explore
Or at least look like they do

And what do you buy when you want to seem adventurous and outdoorsy?
A Jeep Wrangler of course!
Doors off, no roof, perfect for IG shots

Ford thinks to themselves, well we can make a SUV for pretty girls and bearded men
Enter the Bronco
Debuting in 2020 and coming to dealers whenever the delays are over there is finally a choice for people to go adventuring

Record scratch - Ok at this point I’m going to check the sarcasm
One, because i think i’ve made my point
And two, because these are actually proper offroaders and (buyers note)

I’ve done another video that i’l link here covering the major differences between the bronco and wrangler, but we’re here for the 392 and the warthog so let’s get down to it

As the Bronco made it’s debut - like literally as it dropped or the day after Jeep said they were stuffing the 392 motor under the hood of their most rugged wrangler

I tested this motor in the scat pack charger this past year in a comparison against the lexus GSF and it’s powerful sure, but more importantly in this application, it sounds divine
Gotta love low bellowing american v8s

This motor now takes the 2.0T and the Pentastar 3.6 v6 and adds another option

Bringing available horsepower to 470 and the same number in torque

Do i know why anyone rcawling rocks or running trails would need that tye of horsepower?
NO
Do I want it just for the sound?
Yes - especially with no doors or roof to inhibit the noise

This Rubicon 392 isn’t just a big motor dropped in though, the name rubicon carries some weight

The rubicon trail is a serious test of an offroader and for a jeep to bear the name it has to conquer the trail

You can stil expect all the rubicon trappings like:
Disconnecting sway bars - for wild suspension travel and articulation
Fox shocks to smooth things out
17 inch beadlock capable wheels
33 inch BFG mud terrain tires
Custom hood to help the motor breathe when water fording

This thing is seriously ready for anything, but let’s see how the Warthog stacks up

Keep in mind this 392 rubicon was supposed to be available in january, it even still says that on their website, but i cant find any anywhere. This is good news for the base bronco which has been delayed and even better news for the Warthog which is still in testing

Since it hasn’t debuted yet we don’t know everything, the biggest question mark is around engines, but we do have an idea of tires and axles, etc.

Starting under the hood it could come down to 2 things.

The hopeful in me is still hoping for the 6.8 windsor v8 that’s in development for the next gen mustang and f150

However, the more realistic expectation is the updated 3.5TT ecoboost from the 3rd gen raptor.

Ford didn’t announce power figures from the updated motor, but the deaptring mill made 450hp and 510 lbft

So the updated motor should easily make at least 470 to match the 392 and far outdo it on torque
That’s forced induction sweetie

Here’s the pros and cons - TT v6 gets better fuel economy, but makes a worse sound
Take your pick

Here’s where we have more details. The warthog was seen elevation testing in CO from my boys over at TFL, will link in the description cuz yanno copyright

What we can see is the much wider track
The raised ride height
Fox internal bypass dampers
Hard to tell if it’s solid axle or portal axle
Here’s the kicker though - 37inch BFG k02 AT rubber
As compared to the little 33 inch tires on the 392
It’ll also get other stuff from the sasquatch package like locking diffs front and rear
Disconnectig sway bars
And all the GOAT modes

SO what does that leave us with?

Based on what we know so far it seems the Bronco is a little more equipped and extreme, but lacks the v8
And in a vehicle that’s all about open air experience I’d love to accompany that with a v8 soundtrack

To be honest there isn’t a lot between these vehicles. I personally lean Bronco simply for the fact that in the 4 door i can fit the body panels in the trunk if i take them off and I can still keep my wing mirrors

I’d miss the v8 sound, but enjoy the extra economy and power, but that’s just me
