You've finally taken the plunge to get into running. It’s so liberating to move from ‘I will to ‘I am’! Whether you are isolated, you need to train inside due to some environmental factor or it’s just your preference, hop on your exercise equipment, turn on the video and follow the built-in timer. When you’re finished record your results either in one of the many apps or a notebook.

Week 1: All 3 runs at Kellys Beach, Queensland.
Warm up: brisk 5-minute walking.
Activity: 8 repetitions
1 minute easy paced running with
1 ½ minutes of recovery walking
Cool Down: easy 5-minute walking

Your goal:
Develop your easy running pace. As your fitness improves so will this pace. Develop a pace so that each repetition is basically completed at the same pace. You don’t want to be commencing fast and then continually slowing your pace within a single repetition or having different paces for each repetition. Running at this pace also provides you with a positive mental drive that you can keep going.

Hi, I'm Michael. I'm an average runner (in his mid 50s) that has had many injuries and illness that have forced me to recommence my fitness journey; sometimes years later! I’ve made these videos as I have completed many C25K runs during my last two rehabilitations using the treadmill or elliptical.

*** IMPORTANT POINTS ****
The RUNNING PHASES throughout the entire program are at an EASY PACE. If you finish each repetition out of breath and don’t believe you can carry on you are running too fast. Initially it may be just over a walking pace.

The RECOVERY WALKS are just that; they are the periods to rest before the next repetition.

Treadmill setting: set the incline to 1% from day one to closer equate to outdoor running.
