Dear Sister (Trailer) – Off the Shelf Festival

For Dear Sister, participants wrote a letter to a ‘sister’ – an inspirational woman in their life – responding to a letter created by workshop leader, Somali-Italian writer and performer Ubah Cristina Ali Farah. Sheffield writers Helen Mort, Debjani Chatterjee, Sheffield Poet Laureate Warda Yassin and workshop participants produced creative responses on ‘sisterhood.’

Dear Sister is part of English PEN’s centenary programme Common Currency supported by a National Lottery Project Grant from Arts Council England.

Off the Shelf, delivered by the University of Sheffield, has grown into one of the largest literary festivals in the UK, attracting some of the best-known names in literature and media to Sheffield each year. The festival programme is wide ranging and offers events featuring some of the best names in fiction and nonfiction, poetry, politics, journalism, music, history and science.
