Wildfires in Oregon caught us off guard

We score a prime campsite at South Beach State Park for Labor Day weekend and settle in for the night. While the girls are sleeping, Oregon experiences a historic east wind event with hot dry gusts of wind 50+ mph. The tree branches whip around us and the Airstream shakes and moves all through the night. When we wake up and step outside, we see that we are enveloped in a thick haze of smoke. The winds had exacerbated the many wildfires already burning in much of Oregon. The air outside is hazardous, so we try to stay in the Airstream. Three little kids stuck in an Airstream for three days straight -- not easy! To complicate things, Olive falls off her seat in the kitchen and hurts her arm. We feel we have no choice but to brave the smoke (and the pandemic) and drive all over western Oregon seeking the right medical care for her. One of the hospitals we visit loses power during her x-ray, and we are informed another nearby hospital is about to evacuate to the hospital we are visiting.
