Death Valley in one day, with babies

On our way west toward Death Valley, we stop at Red Rock Canyon outside Las Vegas and take our first real family hike (with no stroller). The scenery is stunning and the rocky path is a fun challenge.

Turns out Death Valley is mostly void of internet access, and it’s mid-week (which means we need to work), so we decide to check out everything we can in one epic day of sightseeing.

We dry camp at Fiddler’s Campground next to another Airstream where our backyard is a fallen-tree fort. We set up camp and then get back in the car to drive all over Death Valley — Badwater Basin, Artist’s Palette, Zabriskie Point, 20 Mule Team Road — we see a bunch of majestic and breathtaking sights over the course of one epic day in Death Valley. As we drive back to the Airstream at the end of the day, we see our most beautiful sunset yet.
