Treating wastewater is the most energy-intensive part of our business. So to kick off our Emissions Reduction Pledge (a state-wide commitment from the Victorian water sector), we’re striving to reduce emissions from purchased electricity at our water recycling plants.
Under the pledge we’ve committed to reduce carbon emissions by 45 per cent by 2025. It supports our greater goal to have net-zero emissions by 2030. To kick off our pledge, we’re striving to reduce emissions from purchased electricity.
