Wollongong council sacked
KERRY O'BRIEN: After two-and-a-half weeks of damning evidence before the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Iemma Government in NSW today finally moved to sack Wollongong Council as the ICAC wound up its inquiry into allegation of endemic corruption there. In all 12 people, including some councillors, developers an council staffers have been named in the sex and bribery scandal that's lifted the lid on how developers did business with the council. From sex, gifts and special favours, to cash payments.
While the ICAC has cleared government ministers who became implicated in the fall out from the hearing, Premier Morris Iemma's political troubles are far from over.
