TAMATAY KI CHUTNEY / TOMATO CHUTNEY
6 Tomatoes (blend into paste)
1 tsp. Garlic paste
2 tsps. Green chilies
2 tsp. Salt or to taste
1 tsp. Red chili powder
1/3 cup cup Oil
1/4 tsps. Zeera (Cumin seeds)
1/4 tsps. Rai (Mustard seeds)
1 tsp. Zeera powder (cumin powder)
1/2 tsp. Dhania powder (coriander powder)
1/4 tsp. Kalonji powder (Nigella powder)
1/4 cups karyapak / Curry leaves
2-3 dry red chilies - add in tempering with curry leaves (I forgot to add them :(
METHOD :
1. Wash & cut tomatoes.
2. Add tomatoes, garlic paste & green chilies in a blender & blend to paste.
3. Tempering : In a pot add oil, when it gets a little hot add cumin seeds, mustard seeds then close the stove, let oil cool down a bit & carefully add curry leaves & dry red chillies then immediately close lid.
4. Open the lid & add blended tomatoes in the pot.
5. Open the stove & cook on medium low heat for 20-25 minutes check in between.
6. Cook until chutney becomes thick pickle like consistency then close the stove.
7. Done. Enjoy!
Tip : You can store tomato chutney in airtight container in the freezer for about a month or in the fridge for 2 weeks. Do not put wet spoon in chutney for longer life.
