Energy Drinks for Lifting? (What you need to know before your next workout!!!)

But Energy Drinks are not what's in the commercials, they're real and they need to be talked about because they're getting bigger and bigger.
Energy Drinks, they're a huge industry in the U.S. and all over the world. Even dating back to 1962 where a Japanese company began producing a drink for employees to work longer into the night. Matt Wenning has seen their popularity take off throughout his lifting career. Back in the early 2000's they were a small fraction of the workout supplement market but now it's a totally different game. First off there are almost a limitless amount of companies from BANG, Nos, Monster Energy, Redbull, Mountain Dew, Rockstar, Xyience, Amp, the list goes on and on. So Matt breaks down why he won't use them for lifting and why you should know before you take them for yourself.
So what are the benefits? Well we're not totally sure because every drink and every individual's reaction is different. Over all you get a boost of energy either from the caffeine or sugar, this is something we know about. It's simple math for the human body, put a stimulant in and see the small benefit. That said, we know what the crash looks like too and it's not pretty especially for someone who is exerting lots of energy in a workout room. Okay so what else is in energy drinks? Depending on the drink some have Ephedrine, a stimulant that is in weight-loss products and has show to stress the heart over longer periods of use. Next there can be Creatine, an organic acid that is suppose to help in exertion of force but is also slightly questionable in larger doses. That's the think right? We know where these chemicals come from and how their synthesized but by consuming them without proper studies we truly don't know their long lasting effects.
So sit back and relax and let us tell you what you should be doing before a workout and properly address your personal issues.
