The First Japanese Parenting Books | From the Stacks

Dr. Samuel X. Radbill was a 20th century Philadelphia pediatrician and pediatric historian, who collected historical medical literature from all over the world, many of which were donated to our Historical Medical Library. Among his international acquisitions in our collection is the Shoni Hitsuyo-ki series, Japan's first instructional books on childrearing from the 1700s. Join library staff member Shirley Choi for a look at two of these fascinating books!
