Rare fossil whale skull and a mystery rock found - my heaviest fossil day yet!

Last night I was out for a walk and came across a section of whale skull, way too big to carry though. I knew I had to get back out there as soon as I could before the sand shifted and covered it. I suspected that the two blocks of bone fitted together which would make it quite a significant find.

I will be donating these blocks of bone to one of the New Zealand museums to hopefully shed some light on the whales that are in this area.
