In Gabon, for several months this female chimpanzee and her group have frequently visited large mirrors that are installed in the forest. Seeing another chimpanzee - her own reflection that she does not recognise - makes her nervous.
Today, feeling bolder, she approaches closer to the other chimpanzee, and explores with her hand and lips. The mirror surface stops her fingers and cools her lips. The stranger chimpanzee cannot be found behind the mirror. Perplexed, the female rushes away.

Au Gabon, depuis de nombreux mois, cette femelle chimpanzé se rend fréquemment avec son groupe devant de grands miroirs implantés dans sa forêt. La présence dans le miroir d’un chimpanzé étranger, son propre reflet qu’elle ne connait pas, la rend anxieuse.
Aujourd’hui pleine de courage, elle s’approche plus près de cet étranger, avance sa main et ses lèvres pour le toucher. La surface plane arrête ses doigts et refroidit ses lèvres. Au dos de ce miroir, cet étranger est introuvable. Perplexe, elle prend la fuite !
