Indian Drum vs African Drum | Best Jugalbandi Ever | Guru karaikudi Mani & Pape Samory
150 accomplished musicians from around the world, precisely from 16 countries, assembled this evening at the Sanctum Sanctorum to produce a unique offering at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet, on the occasion commemorating the 90th year of His Supreme Advent.
The Composer, Michael Herting, a ‘non-devotee’ earlier, accepted the challenge, owing to Bhagawan’s mysterious inspiration and thenceforth had made five extensive study-trips to India, assimilating the Sai Story in detail, from all possible sources, said Sri V Srinivasan, AIP of SSSSO, introducing the session.
The presentation entitled ‘Global Sai Symphony’ was a unique composition on the illustrious life of Bhagawan, consisting of 5 movements, each movement covering 16 years apiece. Composed by Michael Hurting from Cologne, Germany the Orchestra was conducted by Dr Michael Koehler from Leipzig, Germany.
The Indian classical side was led by Mridangam exponent Guru Karaikudi Mani, along with Ganesh and Kumaresh on Violin, Mandolin Rajesh, Suresh Vaidyanathan on Ghatam, Shashank Subramanyam on Flute, Dr Pt Debashish Battacharya on Lap Side Guitar, Amrit and Sai Shravanam, Anjana Rajagopalan, with an evergreen Sudha Radhunathan in lead Vocal. HeinerWiberny from Germany, Pape Samory Seck from Senegal and Cheikkh Lehbladh from Mauritania joined the Indian contingent.
