Laminar jet construction. An easy and inexpensive way to make your own Laminar jets for your garden or pool projects or just for a fun home school or family project. You may already have some of the items needed to make this. Video details all the steps to make one. Please share your jets if this video inspires you to make them!

4" Sewer pipe ( If you can just buy 2' )
Below first three items are made from this pipe.

Main body = 14" long
lower screen retainer ring = 2 3/8" long
upper screen and pad retainer rings = 2 pcs. @ 1 1/8" long

4" sewer flat endcap
4" - 3" sewer reducer
3" - 1 1/2" PVC reducer/not sewer
1 1/2 plug with threaded female 3/4"end / to connect to hose fitting
Male 3/4 threaded to hose female threaded end**
** This may vary if you decide to hook up in a different manner.
Your garden hose

2 pcs. scotchbright or similar scrub pads. Make sure they are at least 3 7/8 wide and long to cut into circles.
3 pkgs. of drinking straws 80 ct./pack You will not use all three packs, but more than two. Straws were 10 1/4" long.
Enough mesh fiberglass screen to make 3 - 7" circles
Rain or shine pvc glue*
PVC cleaner*
* Buy the smallest size as you need very little. Save money and borrow from the neighbor:) You may be able to try a hot glue if you have, but I do not know how well that will hold for the longer term.

Should cost you between 15-25 dollars depending on what you may already have. I spent about 10 dollars, but I already had some of the items.

One other note, you may have to adjust the length of the retainer rings and main body if the straws you buy are a different size.

Another note. Depending on the pressure through your jet, you may want to kick up the sewer pipe to regular PVC. Be careful and make sure you know the pressure you will run and match the best piping for your situation. This is just a demonstration of what I did. Consult with a professional for details.
