Ram Promaster Van Conversion Affordable Roof Rack Install | Easy DIY Van Build Ideas

Welcome Back Drifters! Today's video is all about installing a roof rack on our new Promaster Van. We run into some complications and get help from a friendly neighbor with a welder!

Our old van has a completely custom 80 20 Aluminum rack that would be very expensive to replicate. Since we only need our roof rack to hold our solar panels, this rack system is a low-profile, affordable, and easy to install option for our new van build.

As we mention in the video, this roof rack doesn't come with all of the parts you need to mount solar panels, or anything else to it. It is simply the kit for mounting the aluminum rails to your Promaster Van. It utilizes the tabs on the roof of the van, mitigating the need to drill directly into the roof (which we always try to avoid!).

Also, we noted in the video that these rails DO NOT extend to the back tabs on the 159" Promaster. The website mentions the following:
- Does not extend to rear anchor points of 159in and 159in extended wheelbase RAM ProMaster vans
- Roof rack rear crossmember mounts directly to rear anchor points of 159in and 159in extended wheelbase RAM ProMaster vans

If you are using this rack to mount lightbars, solar panels, etc., you will need all of the additional hardware, cross-members, and mounting brackets for those accessories.
