Best Hike in Kachemak Bay State Park: Backpacking to Grewingk Glacier, near Homer, Alaska

Hey friends, thanks for joining us for another week in Alaska (episode 4), this time we show you Homer and Kachemak Bay State Park by backpacking to Grewingk Glacier. This trip included packing our bags with our sleeping bags, a tent and our inflatable packrafts and taking a water taxi across Kachemak Bay.

We hiked 4 miles into Grewingk Glacier and setup camp. Then we paddled the 2.6 miles across the lake to get a close-up look at the glacier. We almost made it back to camp before it started raining, but ended up getting soaked right at the end of our paddle. We had a fire, made some dinner and slept under the midnight sun. The next day, our hike back out and boat ride were beautiful, and we were ready to get dry and warm by the time we made it back to the van!
