In Victoria, 'we're seeing what socialism does'

Former speaker of the house Bronwyn Bishop says Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is a man “who is really clutching at power.”

Her comments come after the premier denied the decision to implement a state curfew was a captain’s call.

When asked whether he had personally made other decisions without the advice of the chief health officer, the Premier said the state government "reserves the right to make decisions to operationalise advice from the chief health officer".

Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton, however, denied being involved in the decision.

“He knows he’s a failed man,” Ms Bishop told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“Taking responsibility means taking decisions that are the correct decisions.

“You don’t say, ‘the decision was made by my chief health officer’.

“You take advice from public servants, but you make the decision.

“We are seeing what socialism does when it happens.

“There is no such thing as collective responsibility, it doesn’t exist."
