Antikristo: How Lamb Is Grilled in Crete #shorts

Antikristo is an ancient grilling technique traditionally used in Cretan culture. The name “antikristo” comes from the cooking method which means “opposite” or “across the fire”.

It is a slow cooking method where the lamb meat is placed around the fire and salt is added.

During this process, the meat develops different flavors, and the salt dehydrates the meat and gives it a crisp finish. More rarely goat meat is used.

In this video, we watch Zoran at To Antikristo in Chania, Crete, grill lamb and pork the traditional Cretan way.

We tasted both the lamb and the pork. The meat was very tender and the flavors from the meat amazing!
