MagicMtn Dance @ Oregon Eclipse, 2017 August

Hey guess what? A few nights before leaving for Oregon Eclipse, I had a flash of inspiration and wrote a song for the festival. And then I shot the music video *at the festival* with cool people I met there!

Unfortunately this is NOT that music video… I forgot about video release forms, so I’m still trying to get as many of them as I can before cutting the music video.

Instead, this is a dance video I decided to make in the meantime, with footage I have of just myself. It showcases the usual gloving and fingershows, plus some new stuff I’ve been working on: waacking and bboying.

I chose a song by CloZee, because she played the most memorable set for me from the festival. The song is titled “Black Panther”, which is funny because I’ve gone to an animal-themed party in my standard party uniform and told people I was a black panther.

This video really expanded my editing skills. Clozee’s music isn’t a predictable four-on-the-floor, so I had to pay close attention to honor musicality. In the gloving and fire tower scenes, I even sped up and slowed down specific segments so it would match the music.

I was also mindful of which transitions I used, not only for musicality, but also to flow from the last move of one scene into the first move of the next scene.

I’m glad I did this dance video first, as the skills I learned here will help me make my “Oregon Eclipse” music video that much better. Feedback always appreciated. Thanks and enjoy!
