** Gray Falls is a band that I auditioned for a little over a year ago. At the time they called themselves Zegovia and were really great. The guys in the band are amazing musicians and people. This is one of the original songs of theirs that I learned to play with them and I think it's fantastic. You can find it on Spotify and on their YouTube channel if you want to listen to it. They also just came out with their new single "Sirens" and it's really cool.
You might be wondering why I'm covering their song if I'm not in the band, right? Well, I couldn't commit to the band because of school, I knew that going in to the audition and was upfront about it and so there are no hard feelings. We still keep in touch and it's great. I really like their music and they are really moving on up locally (at least before quarantine). They got a banner, a band van, play lots of shows regularly, and are amazing at engaging their audience in person and on social media (especially during the lockdown). I wish nothing but the best for these guys since they're hard working, great musicians, and fun to be around.
Also, when I asked if I could cover their song, they were thrilled. They sent me videos breaking down the parts and the bass stem so I know my tab is 100% accurate. They sent them to me a while ago, actually, but I didn't post this until now because I had a hard time with it. The left hand is fairly easy, but the strumming pattern was really hard to nail down. I kept messing up parts here and there and wanted to get it better. When I first started learning the song, I wasn't very good with a pick either. I've always been a finger-style player up until about this past year, and learning this helped me to build speed and experience using a pick. I'm still no master at it, but I've made a lot of improvement and I'm going to keep on practicing.
