DIY Tormek / Wen sharpening jigs, Part 2 – knife sharpening jig for slow-speed wet grinders

This is the second of a series of jigs for slow speed wet grinders like the Tormek T8, WEN BG-4270, WEN BG9910, or versions by Harbor Freight, Grizzly, Triton, Rikon, Jet, Scheppach and others.
This jig will work on any whetsone sharpening system that has a jig bar for the jig to ride against.

This jig is for average-sized knives and can sharpen small paring knives, hunting / skinning knives, every day carry (EDC) knives, up to large knives as long as they are not flexible (such as a thin fillet knife).

Being able to maintain a precise angle on a knife means you'll be grinding off less metal each time you sharpen, and the knife will last longer. With this jig you can easily get consistent, repeatable bevels, which many people find hard to do when sharpening freehand with traditional oil or water stones. The jig is easy to make and can be made from scraps of hardwood and easy to find hardware.


Bonus! At the end of the video I tell how to modify this jig to make a jig for sharpening long flexible fillet knives. If you have very short knives, like small Swiss Army or EDC knives, you could make this jig narrower as well, to fit those blades better.
