The Hartford Circus Fire of 1944 | Tragic Tales

On July 6, 1944, thousands of residents of Hartford, Connecticut, gathered inside a Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus tent to escape the summer heat and enjoy some entertainment. But none of them knew that they were all about to be part of history in a tragic way. Their retreat from the heatwave and events of the day was about to turn into a fight to escape one of the deadliest fires of their time. This is the story of the Hartford Circus Fire of 1944.
