Steve Guyger drives Elvis Presley's "Mystery Train" through Terra Blues in Greenwich Village, NYC.
Live at Terra Blues, in Greenwich Village, New York City, on Friday the 13th of October, 2017.
Super soulful and extraordinarily talented Steve Guyger and the Excellos bring a roaring Blues locomotive, named "Mystery Train" (the classic Elvis Presley tune), through the awesome Terra Blues venue in Greenwich Village, NYC.
Notice, especially, that for a period starting at the 1:20 mark of the video, Steve Guyger takes the same harmonica mic he uses to amplify the harmonica, and he holds that mic against the right-front side of his neck, over one of his vocal cords and carotid arteries, and then he emulates the exact sound and percussive beat of an upright bass in a way that makes it sound like that bass music is coming from a place and a purpose even closer to the heart! Simply, yet profoundly, amazing! Shortly after finishing that section of the song, at the 2:48 mark in the video, the train really starts rolling and picking up steam until it howls so loud and fast that it literally sounded and felt like a train was inside the intimate Terra Blues venue with us. :)
If you ever have a chance to hear / watch a live performance by these guys, I highly recommend it. If you're interested in learning more about them and also to check when they might be playing near you, their website is:
