Kelly Green performing "Long Ago (and Far Away) with Johnny O'Neal's trio, Live at Ginny's Supper C
Kelly and the trio perform a fun, foot-tapping, soulful rendition of the classic "Long Ago (and Far Away)," originally composed by Jerome Kern and lyricist Ira Gershwin for the 1944 movie Cover Girl. The film with Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly is about a dancer, Rusty (Hayworth), who becomes the “new face” for a prominent glamour magazine and an overnight sensation. She’s in love with her boss Danny (Gene Kelly) who owns the nightclub where she works and which, as a result of her fame, becomes popular.
My friends and I enjoyed fantastic food and music at Ginny's Supper Club, in Harlem, during our recent trip to New York City. The eminent jazz pianist and vocalist, Johnny O'Neal, and his trio and special guests, treated us to a wonderful evening of entertainment -- the kind of entertainment that is not only really impressive and enjoyable sonically, but also makes the audience feel good -- perhaps not surprising when considering that the musicians (especially the young trio) smiled like Cheshire cats, expressing genuine joy, throughout all the songs.
Johnny's remarkably talented young trio includes:
Taylor Stewart, on tenor saxophone.
Itay Morchi, on drums.
Ben Rubens, on stand-up bass.
+Special guests
If you ever have a chance to hear / watch a live performance by these guys, I highly recommend it! If you're interested in learning more about them and also to check when they might be playing near you, go to:
