Prius Gen2 (2004 05 06 07 08 09) Hybrid Battery removal

WHEN WORKING ON HYBRID BATTERY THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP IS TO REMOVE THE ORANGE PLUG. THAT SHUTS OFF THE HIGH VOLTAGE. (click show more below for more useful info) MAKE SURE YOU READ THE NOTES ON HOW TO PROPERLY RE-INSERT THE ORANGE PLUG.

This video shows how to remove the high voltage Hybrid battery assembly from a gen2 Prius. Sorry about the crappy audio, the detail shop next door runs their vacuum nonstop. The tool I use for removing the plastic barbs is http://amzn.com/B000JFNAK8

Other tools needed, 8, 10, 12, 14mm sockets, small needle nose pliers.
Optional; small impact driver, magnet on a stick (in case you drop a bolt)

According to Toyota you SHOULD where electrical gloves for safety. However, if the ORANGE PLUG is removed it is near impossible to get hurt with electricity. I do recommend gloves for lifting the battery since the sharp sheet metal edges can easily cut your skin. BTDT!
