Corso Leopold - Munich's largest street festival

Where cars usually dominate the street scene, Corso Leopold conquers the street back for the citizens. Since 2000, this has succeeded twice a year and inspires up to 500,000 strollers each year on a weekend in June and September. On 2.3 km between Odeonsplatz and Münchner Freiheit and in the future further into the Schwabinger Tor, art and culture form the main focus north of the Georgenstraße on the Corso Leopold. Music, painting, theatre, international cultures, culinary arts, handicrafts and last but not least politics and clubs invite the strollers to inspire amazement and social togetherness. Oh Munich, you green city! Admittedly, when you think of Munich, the green city may not be the first association. The Oktoberfest, Kaufingerstraße and full subways and streets are likely to be preferred. A picture dominated by asphalt, hardly a trace of green. Yet Munich has all kinds of green spaces to offer. And what even for which. The English Garden, for example, is one of the largest inner-city green spaces in the world. Furthermore, the Isar flows like a kind of blue-green lifeline through the city and lets it bloom and flourish on the Flaucher. Lovingly designed parks and gardens extend in all directions - in short:
The meadows are there, you just have to know where.

For this reason, "Green City" is this year's motto of the Streetlife Festival. It is both a confession and an appeal. A commitment to the fact that we can perceive Munich as a city worth living in with many poles of calm and an appeal to do so more often than not. Green spaces can be found. They can be used. They can be created. Therefore, come with us on a journey through the city and learn to see it with different eyes.
