Glycogen Storage Disease Type 1 (GSD Type 1a)/Von Gierke Disease

Glycogen storage disease (GSD) type 1a is referred as Von Gierke disease. Von Gierke disease is due to deficiency of glucose 6 phosphatase enzyme which is necessary for the final reaction in glycogen degradation and gluconeogenesis. Glycogen storage disease (GSD) type 1 is further classified into GSD 1a, GSD 1b.
