Fix the CRUX35 HD’s biggest problem // The Great Discus - Sub250g DJI FPV Build

The CRUX35 HD was my favourite sub250g freestyle bind and fly... but there was one major issue with it... and that's its durability when running a dji Vista/ Runcam link. This simple upgrade solves that and even a beginner with no build experience can do it.

In my previous review of the Crux35 I said that it was great but I wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner because it wouldn’t survive many crashes… with this upgrade I can confirm that it’s probably a better option as a first quad than say the DJI Avata 2.

Parts you’ll need:
A happymodel CRUX35 HD (This is the Vista version in the video so HD zero versions may need different parts). - https://www.getfpv.com/happymodel-crux35-4s-hd-freestyle-racing-drone-w-caddx-nebula-nano.html
The Great Discus Frame (in this video I used the 3mm bottom plate, button head screws and 25mm standoffs) - https://www.cncdrones.com/the-great-discus.html
M2 x 14mm hex screws (you'll need 4 of these)
180mm Battery strap (I'm using an 850/900 mah 4s battery this BetaFPV strap isn't necessary but it's what I had available at the time of the build) - https://betafpv.com/collections/antenna/products/pavo-series-battery-strap2pcs?variant=40340259471494
Battery pad - I recommend Ummagrip which is available in most places - https://ummagawd.com/products/ummagrip-battery-pad
Alternative battery pad - Flywoo also do a sticky pad (although doesn't last as long) - https://flywoo.net/products/2pcs-flywoo-super-non-slip-fpv-battery-pad

4x Arm/motor guards (Booties) - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6237914
4x M2 4mm stack spacer (recommended for isolation but you can also build without these using the original nuts from the CRUX35 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3907494
4x M2 TPU nut (not needed if you're using the original CRUX35 nuts or have the larger M2 nuts that I used in the video) - https://www.printables.com/model/468893-m2-tpu-nut

The Great Discus works with the standard CRUX35 settings, but if you want to tune the quad @TorontoFPV has provided his tune for the quad here https://youtube.com/shorts/_-0DrWrFJB8?si=AP6puvy-jyBPsNvA

If you're using a CRUX35 with analog or HD zero or doing a build with this frame from scratch take a look at @TorontoFPV he has a ton of videos of different builds (even an O3) with this frame and is so responsive to any questions on your builds.
