How to Change HDMI Sources without Remote on Samsung TV (Best Method)
You can change your Samsung TV’s HDMI input without a remote using the TV’s physical buttons, the SmartThings app, HDMI-CEC devices, or voice control for quick and reliable switching.
1. Using the TV’s Physical Buttons
Most Samsung TVs have a control button or set of buttons located on the bottom, side, or back of the TV
Single Button Method (modern TVs): Press the button once to open the menu. Use short presses to navigate to the Source/Input menu. Press and hold the button to select, then use short presses to scroll to the desired HDMI input and press/hold again to confirm.
Multi-button Method (older models): Use the dedicated Source/Input button to open the source menu. Navigate between inputs with volume or channel buttons. Press the source button to select the desired input.
Tip: Rapidly pressing the button can sometimes cycle through inputs directly for faster switching
2. Using the Samsung SmartThings App
Samsung’s SmartThings app turns your smartphone into a virtual remote
Download the SmartThings app from the App Store or Google Play.
Ensure your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Open the app, tap Add Device, and select your Samsung TV. Follow the on-screen instructions, entering any pairing codes shown on the TV.
Once connected, go to Home Sources and tap the desired HDMI input.
This method also allows adjusting volume, navigating menus, and controlling other functions remotely.
3. Using HDMI-CEC (Anynet+)
If your connected devices support HDMI-CEC, enabling Samsung’s Anynet+ feature allows automatic input switching
Go to Settings General External Device Manager Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) and enable it.
Turn on a connected device (like a console or streaming stick), and the TV will automatically switch to that HDMI input.
This is particularly convenient for gaming consoles or streaming devices that support CEC.
