Our boy Don M. brought up a good point so I will add these important tips here: When I performed the actual 16 guide job on my racecar head (1) I put the new valve guides in the freezer overnight, (2) put the racehead in the oven set to 200F soaked just before installing the new guides, (3) lathed a precision depth stop when sending them home.
