Nobel prize-winning author VS Naipaul has died at the age of 85.

He was one of the first winners of the leading British literary award, the Booker Prize.

The popular, but controversial, writer penned more than 30 fiction and non-fiction books, focusing on themes of migration, displacement and rootlessness.
