(日本語字幕付き）Initially I set out to make a video to introduce PIRIKA, the social media app for picking up litter, but it changed direction when I discovered just how many cigarette butts were littered. It's the last socially accepted form of littering, which happens to be super harmful to the environment and consequently on our health as it leaches toxic pollutants, even when disposed properly.
Cigarette filters are made out of plastic. They are a single use plastic which millions of people litter daily around the world, which will end up in the ocean, killing sealife and affecting our health.

最初はゴミ拾い専門のSNS「PIRIKA」の紹介動画を作ろうと思っていましたが、たばこの吸い殻のポイ捨てがあまりにも多く、タバコが使い捨てプラスチックであるという動画に偏りました。タバコは適切に処分されていても、有害な汚染物質を浸出する為、特に環境や私達の健康に有害です。それでも社会的にポイ捨てはやや受け入れられていることを不思議に思いました。
私も最近までタバコは生分解されると思っていました。実は使い捨てプラスチックで海洋生物や人間の健康に悪影響を及ぼしています。
