Toilet Repair flush-o-meter water hammer

Flushometer Water Hammer can happen for a few reasons. One is that no water hammer arrestors were installed on the supply piping feeding the flushometer. And two the diaphragm inside the flushometer is torn/damaged.

I've seen this many times in the residential market and the complaint is that when the valve is flushed and the handle is released, a pronounced loud bang takes place. The long term effect on your plumbing system can be serious in the case where your pipes are not properly secured.

If you're experiencing a flushometer water hammer, and the cause is a faulty diaphragm I'll show you how you can replace it and eliminate that annoying banging noise. I'll be featuring the Coyne/Delaney brand in this video, but the steps hold true for a variety of brands on the market.

Happy Plumbing!
