In this video I go over a few of the recording techniques I use for recording saxes. When you first start recording, you usually hear, "don't record the reed!". And while most of the times I will point the mic to the body of the instrument, it is important to know what the reed and the bell sound like. It could be that these positions produce the tone that you need for you project. Experiment to find the right tone. Context is imporant! Get it right during the recording process and don't "fix" it in post!
