Tiny Cries - Anthem for Criminalising Abortion | Sad Lofi Hiphop

I believe that moral reasoning is not the sole domain of religion. Instead, principles of justice, human “rights”, and personal responsibility can arise from critical thinking, leading to what is best described as the Non-Aggression Principle.

The Non-Aggression Principle reasons that initiating force, violence, or coercion against another person or their property is inherently wrong. This is because it violates the autonomy and self-ownership of individuals, which are foundational to a universal morality that applies equally to all people. Since humans are reasoning beings, any ethical framework must retain our ability to make free choices. Thus, the Non-Aggression Principle is a rational, universal moral code for humanity.

In regards to where the Non-Aggression Principle applies to abortion, science is unambiguous: human life begins at conception. From the moment of fertilization, the zygote possesses unique human DNA, distinct from both the mother and the father. This genetic blueprint defines a new individual whose development is a continuous process.

The argument that a fetus is not "fully human" until a particular stage of development is unsupported by biology. A human being does not gain moral worth based on size, level of development, or dependency. Someone in the state of a coma is no less dependent on caregivers than a fetus is on its mother, yet we universally recognize the immorality of killing the comatose.

When the Non-Aggression Principle is applied consistently, it becomes clear that abortion is not merely a personal choice—it is the taking of an innocent human life.

The next major argument for abortion often rests on the claim that a woman has the right to control her own body. However, this argument fails to acknowledge the existence of a second, distinct body—the fetus—within the womb. A society that permits the killing of the most vulnerable among us—those who cannot speak, cannot defend themselves, and are entirely dependent—has not only ignored the Non-Aggression Principle, but also abandoned the notion of equal protection under the law.

A woman’s choice to engage in consensual sexual activity always carries the inherent possibility of creating new life. This biological reality is a natural consequence of human reproduction, and thus a woman consenting to sex also consents to the risk of becoming pregnant, as the two are inexorably linked. While rape involves heinous violations of consent, the moral solution is not to perpetuate violence by taking the life of an innocent child. Addressing these tragedies requires compassion and support for both victims, not the elimination of an unborn life who cannot defend themselves.

Criminalising the act of abortion is not about punishing women out of cruelty; it is about upholding the Non-Aggression Principle and protecting the innocent. Just as we hold parents accountable for the neglect or abuse of their children, we must hold individuals accountable for the deliberate murder of a child’s life. The law already recognises this principle, as the murder of a pregnant woman counts as double homicide—why should abortion be treated differently?

A just society protects the innocent and holds individuals accountable for their actions. Abortion is a direct violation of the Non-Aggression Principle, and its continued legalization undermines the moral and rational foundations of our civilization. While compassion for women facing unplanned pregnancies is nice, this compassion must not come at the expense of justice for the unborn.

It is time to abolish abortion and recognise it for what it is: the unjust taking of a human life. Criminalizing this act, and holding those who commit it accountable for murder, is not an act of cruelty but one of justice. I personally stand for reason, responsibility, and the protection for the voiceless. Let us rise above murder for convenience and defend the principles that separate humanity from animals.
