How to Flush a Water Heater ● Simple Steps
I did a bunch of reading and decided to flush my gas water heater myself. All you need is a garden hose. It's pretty easy to do and will take an hour or so of your time to do a good flush job. It's not a messy job, but you will have some water on the floor. They say over time water heaters can accumulate sediment, minerals and scale and lose efficiency. The jury I think is still out on whether or not it will extend the life of your water heater. Flushing your water heater every few years doesn't sound like a bad idea though.
