Wellington Double Decker Buses. 2 Tranzurban EV buses wrapped in Ellie's and Bill's designs.

On Saturday 24 April, 2021, Island Bay was greeted with a surprise visit around 1:45 pm by two Tranzurban double decker buses wrapped in 2 designs from Metlink's recent design a double decker bus competition, on their maiden voyage. There were two winners, Ellie and Bill, who now have their award winning designs on two of Tranzurban's 100% Electric double decker buses, which can carry about 83 passengers.

The design is shown to be on one side of the bus. Tranzurban did have a Parade designed diesel double decker bus for last year's Wellington International Pride Festival from 2020. That design covered all sides of the bus.

Ellies and Bills buses are due in late April to start running on the No.1 Tranzurban bus route, on behalf of Metlink. But we may see them on other Tranzurban double decker bus routes too, including No.32X (another Island Bay bus route), 7, 39, 23. Metlink's No.1 bus route, which Tranzurban has the contract for, is the busiest bus route in Wellington City, thus it being a high frequency route.

These buses were on a Special charter service on Saturday. It would be a pleasure to see these buses when they start running on the No.1 service, and be able to take some more videos. This is a short video since Reef Street was busy welcoming these two buses. You can read more here:
