President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday said that Ukraine never used American long-range weapons to strike deep into Russia.

According to Associated Press briefing reporters in Brussels, Zelenskyy said such weapons had never been deployed to strike "very important targets on Russian territory".

"This is important. We used various weapons that have decent long-range capabilities. But this was purely, I would say, in the combat zone,” he continued.

According to the president, Ukraine currently uses its own long-range capabilities for targets up to 3,000 kilometres.

He added that Ukraine's priority now was to obtain additional funding to allow it to mass-produce and expand its long-range capabilities.

The president discussed Ukraine's needs in one-on-one meetings with several European leaders on the sidelines of their European Union meeting in Brussels on Thursday.
